About Us

Stand Up For Women is standing up for women's rights - with a heavy emphasis on comedy in the process!

We host comedy galas featuring some of the nation's favourite comedians and run campaigns (often supported by some of the nation's favourite comedians!).

Our buzzing website and social media features alternative role models, alongside women and men who are standing up for women in everyday life.

Our Trustees

Sally Hughes
Sally is an actor/director and has been the artistic director of The Mill at Sonning for the over 20 years. This is the UK’s only theatre to operate without subsidy and the UK’s only theatre to having a working water mill (probably making it the greenest theatre in the country)! Sally has networks with a vast range of performers, artists and agents.
Sally is no stranger to the charity sector, offering her theatre on a regular basis to local charities for fundraising performances and having run for charity twice in the London Marathon.
Jeremy Coutinho
After gaining an MSC, Jeremy became a CAB advisor and then manager. For the last 20 years he has been a manager within a Mental Health Trust, first running a highly specialist Welfare Benefits Team and then overseeing performance for the entire Trust. He now runs one of the first 'Recovery Colleges' in the world - a novel and highly effective system for supporting people with mental health problems. Jeremy served on the management committee of the hugely successful pressure group OBJECT for nearly a decade. Stand Up For Women was his concept - “It’s great to see it coming to fruition like this!”
Adam Rolston
Adam is a writer/director/producer. His first play, a biography of Doris Day (who incidentally experienced domestic violence), toured in London and Los Angeles. He raised private funding to to direct his first film script, 'Meet Me on the Southbank', even gaining exclusive permission to shoot in the BFI (British Film Institute). He is now producing the film of the international best selling book 'A Cat Named Bob'.
